PRESS & MEDIA INQUIRIES

What is SPX?

The Small Press Expo (SPX) is a registered 501(c)(3) that was created in 1994 to promote artists and publishers who produce independent comics. SPX hosts an annual festival – the largest such festival in the United States – that provides a forum for artists, writers and publishers of comic art in its various forms to present their art to the public. Nearly 600 creators and publishers will exhibit their work at SPX 2013.

What Sort of Charitable Work does SPX Do?

SPX sponsors a number of events and charitable initiatives that support our core mission to promote, protect and preserve the work of independent artists. These efforts are supported via partnerships and programmatic relationships with the Library of Congress, the National Book Festival and the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.

When & Where Does the SPX Festival Take Place?

The 2013 SPX festival will be held September 14 and 15th in Bethesda, Maryland at the world class Bethesda North Marriott & Conference Center at 5701 Marinelli Road, North Bethesda, Maryland. Since 1994, Bethesda has been the home of the SPX festival and we’re extremely proud of our longstanding association with the Montgomery County community.
